Updating a Nonprofit Website

A Nonprofit Website That Works
As hard as the Mission

Two Rivers Wildfire Coalition is a locally-operated nonprofit serving a very specific geography- and doing increasingly complex, high-impact work. But their old website didn’t reflect that reality. It was outdated and hard to navigate, and didn’t clearly show value to the most important visitors: the communities they serve, and the partners and funders who make the work possible. That needed to change.

Here’s how we did it, what made it work, and what other brands can learn from it.

The Goal: Have a Nonprofit Website that demonstrates Value to multiple audiences

The new website needed to:

  • Clearly serve two distinct audiences (without confusing either one)

  • Easily demonstrate measurable value

  • Is easy to use, easy to update, and built to last

  • Actually gets found in searches.

What We Built

  • A fully-redesigned website with clear pathways for residents and partners/funders.

  • A two-page annual impact report that can be updated year over year

  • Mobile-optimized layouts focused on clarity, notifications, and storytelling

  • Six custom, SEO-optimized blog posts featuring real case studies and current work

  • A scheduled content drip- so the team doesn’t have to think about posting for six months

Built for Longevity

We delivered this redesign with a full handoff session, complete with one-on-one training. We coached staff on: Managing and editing the website, using Canva (for free) to create polished visuals, and keeping content fresh without adding workload. Everything was designed to reduce long-term costs, simplify workflows, and support a professional digital presence that feels like the high-value community nonprofit that they are.

Why It Matters

Instead of a confusing website, unclear impact, and duct taping technologies together, Two Rivers Wildfire Coalition now has a cohesive and clear online presence. Donors, community members, and partner organizations can easily find where they fit in. The Blog enhances SEO, tells the story, offers case studies of impact, and is used to share stories with local media. Their Google Drive and Donation platform have been embedded into the site to get folks involved with the organization more seamlessly. They are using Canva and AI tools more effectively to create branded graphics and documents that feel “a part of” everything else they are doing.

A Site That Can Grow With Them:

  • With a full CRM, they can begin collecting contacts for email marketing.

  • As they build their ArcGIS database and storymaps, they can easily embed to the website for users to interact with.

  • If they would like to offer sales through their site for fundraising, they can expand to do that.

  • As videos and trainings are made, they can be simply embedded to the site.

  • Volunteer hubs can be made to better track in-kind hours.
